Scholarships for foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad awarded by the Italian Government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers scholarships in favour of foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) for the 2026-2027 academic year, in order to foster international cooperation in cultural, scientific and technological fields, to promote the Italian language and culture and to support Italy’s economic system in the world (According to the Italian law 288/55 and its subsequent changes and additions).
Scholarships are available for attending academic courses on the Italian territory only.

The Scholarship is open to Citizens of 141 countries. Please check the eligible countries for the MAECI Scholarship 2026.Applicants applying for a master’s degree program must have completed a bachelor’s degree.Age 28 years old or younger at the time of application for the Master’s program.If you are applying for a PhD Program, you must not be over the age of 30 years at the time of application.Applicant must be able to prove his/her English language proficiency from IELTS or any other Language certificate, such as English Proficiency language proof.Scholarship Perks

How to Apply for the 2026 Italian Government MAECI Scholarship
Applicants must apply online through the “Study in Italy ” website. You don’t need to take admission first into the university. Read the call for applications.The application process for the MAECI scholarship and university admission is separate.For the MAECI Scholarship: You’ll apply through the online platform designated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.University Admission: Once you’ve been selected for the MAECI scholarship, you’ll then need to secure admission at an Italian public university.Deadline: 26th May, 2026
