Akmad Ampatuan, the mayor of Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao del Sur, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday morning when his armored vehicle was targeted with a grenade launcher. The attack occurred while he was on his way through Barangay Poblacion.
