A comprehensive school in Wales was evacuated following an incident involving a student who reportedly assaulted a teacher.

The event took place at Milford Haven Comprehensive School around 3:20 PM on Thursday, February 5, resulting in the school entering lockdown.

According to Dyfed-Powys Police, while the teacher sustained injuries during the assault, they were not stab wounds.

One staff member shared on social media that they were "locked in a room" for their own safety during the event.

An announcement was made via the school’s public address system, informing students of the lockdown as they began after-school activities, according to reports from the Pembrokeshire Herald.

A 15-year-old boy has since been taken into custody under suspicion of attempted murder.

A parent recounted that her son was stuck inside the school as it went into lockdown while he was participating in an after-school club.

Another mother expressed her relief at having picked up her daughter from school before the lockdown occurred, stating, "I can only imagine how terrified anyone who witnessed it must have been."

Superintendent Chris Neve confirmed the incident, stating that police responded to the reported assault involving a student with a weapon at approximately 3:20 PM. He emphasized that the teacher's injuries were not due to a stabbing, and while a lockdown was instituted, it has now been lifted.

According to Neve, the teacher is currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries, and all students have since been accounted for, with most returning home. Officers are still present at the school.

The arrested 15-year-old has been taken in for questioning regarding the attempted murder charge.

Welsh First Minister Eluned Morgan expressed her concern over the incident, revealing that she had visited the school just the previous week. She stated, "I am deeply concerned by the incident at the school in Milford Haven. My thoughts are with the injured teacher, their family, and the entire school community during this difficult time."

Morgan praised the emergency services and school staff for their quick reaction to ensure the safety of everyone involved, reiterating, "Violence of any kind has no place in our schools."

A spokesperson from Pembrokeshire County Council added that the police arrived at the school shortly after the reported assault. They confirmed that the lockdown has been lifted and that all pupils are now safe, though any scheduled after-school events have been canceled for that evening.
