Ahead of the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial race in Oyo State, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate, Abimbola Adekanmbi, has challenged his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to publicly disclose his legislative scorecards from the National Assembly. Adekanmbi argued that individuals seeking higher political offices must first display verifiable excellence in their current legislative duties.
What did the APM candidate demand from the senator?
In a media release issued on Saturday by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the Co- Director of Media and Publicity for the Oyo State APM Campaign Council (OYSACC), Adekanmbi insisted that Alli has fallen short of public expectations during his time in the Senate. The opposition candidate maintained that political progression ought to rely strictly on impactful service delivery instead of mere political longevity, stressing that voters in the region will not reward subpar legislative representation with an upgrade to the Agodi Government House.
Why is performance central to the 2027 debate?
Adekanmbi emphasized that leadership positions should be earned through demonstrated competence rather than historical political entitlements. He formally challenged the federal lawmaker to release a detailed inventory of his accomplishments for public scrutiny.
"The people of Oyo State deserve leaders who can defend their ambitions with verifiable achievements, not politicians who expect past titles to substitute for present performance," Adekanmbi stated.
