Ondo Central APM Candidate Sunday Falae Criticises Incumbent Senator Over Poor Representation

Sunday Falae, the Allied Peoples Movement candidate for Ondo Central, has criticised the current senator representing the district for allegedly abandoning constituents. Speaking in Akure, Falae stated that his legislative bid is aimed at bringing grassroots development and bridging the gap between campaign promises and actual performance ahead of the 2027 elections.

Sunday Falae, the Allied Peoples Movement candidate for the Ondo Central senatorial district in the upcoming National Assembly elections, has asserted that the incumbent lawmaker representing the zone has failed to deliver effective representation to the populace.

Addressing a gathering over the weekend in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, Falae explained that his decision to run for office was inspired by continuous grievances voiced by residents across all six local government areas within the senatorial district, highlighting a pressing necessity for a strong legislative voice at the National Assembly.

The former stalwart of the All Progressives Congress argued that a scenario where the electorate feels entirely neglected by their elected representative demands an immediate change through the ballot box.

Why is Falae contesting the senatorial seat?

According to the politician, his aspiration is not propelled by personal ambition, but rather by the vital demand to channel governance toward the grassroots, ensuring tangible opportunities that positively impact everyday lives.

Falae clarified that his defection from the ruling party stemmed from a widening disparity between electoral commitments and legislative output, pointing out a distinct disconnect between the current senator and the community members.

He further condemned previous empowerment initiatives in the district as inadequately planned, citing a specific instance where a beneficiary sold a donated grinding machine because she could not afford the logistics required to transport it back to her home.

What are his political alignments?

Discussing his transition to the APM, Falae noted that the move was motivated by a shared vision for a regional leader to support national stability, adding that the coalition framework of his campaign embraces supporters from multiple political platforms.

He revealed that his campaign operates as a broad alliance, incorporating members from the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo Central, which reportedly chose not to field a candidate for the senatorial race and has subsequently endorsed his candidacy.
