Uzor Arukwe, a prominent Nollywood actor, has discussed the criticality of professionalism and the establishment of clear boundaries when collaborating with female colleagues, particularly during the filming of intimate scenes.
In a conversation with BBC News Igbo, Arukwe emphasized the need to address comfort levels with actresses ahead of shooting such scenes to foster mutual understanding.
He noted that these discussions are beneficial in preventing discomfort and ensuring respect among the cast. "I always discuss boundaries with any female colleague I’m scheduled to act with. I ensure we converse about what is deemed acceptable before commencing filming. I refrain from touching areas that might make the actress or her partner uneasy. Being a married man, I understand the importance of this," he stated.
Arukwe is recognized for his role as Odogwu Paranran in Omoni Oboli’s film, Love in Every Word, and he also responded to speculation regarding romantic connections with some of his colleagues.
He dismissed these rumors, asserting that his interactions with actresses are purely professional, and reiterated his commitment to his marriage and career.
"The rumors about me and different women are unfounded. What audiences observe in films is simply a part of my profession. The Odogwu character significantly advanced my career and garnered more recognition, leading to many people now identifying me because of that role," he added.
