Spring Weems, aged 47, was discovered deceased on Wednesday, January 28, at her residence in Edmond. Police were alerted to the scene following reports from neighbors about a physical altercation involving two teenage boys armed with weapons.

The teenager accused of the killing has been taken into custody and placed in juvenile detention. He faces charges of first-degree murder, though formal charges are yet to be filed. It has been confirmed that both boys were adopted by Weems and were under her sole care at their home, valued at approximately $340,000, located near Oklahoma City.

The ages of the boys involved are 16 and 17, but it has not been clarified which of them is the primary suspect in the alleged murder.

Weems had been portrayed as a devoted mother, with numerous social media posts showcasing her attendance at her sons' high school wrestling events and celebrating their achievements.

She was also an active member of her church community and reportedly encouraged her adopted sons to embrace her faith. Many of her online posts featured Christian messages, including one emphasizing the importance of love and unity among siblings.

In one instance, Weems shared a photograph of one of her sons covered in paint after participating in a church activity, commenting on the lessons of faith, community, and accountability they were learning.

The homicide has sent shockwaves through the seemingly peaceful neighborhood, with a resident expressing dismay over the involvement of young people in such a tragedy. The neighbor described the area as a safe and family-friendly environment.

Investigations into the incident are continuing, and arrangements are being made to ensure the welfare of Weems's other son.
