A realtor identified as Nguni Urbain has shared his harrowing experience of being shot while protecting his wife during a home invasion by armed robbers in Bunduma, Buea, Cameroon. The incident saw two assailants break into his residence.
According to Urbain's account, the robbers absconded with cash, personal valuables, and funds from his mobile money accounts. The situation intensified dramatically when one of the intruders made an attempt to sexually assault his wife, which provoked him to intervene.
He engaged the attackers, managing to free himself and open the door to call for help, raising an alarm. During the struggle, Urbain sustained a gunshot wound to his chest.
He explained that the bullet narrowly missed vital organs, passing through him and exiting his back. The assailants reportedly fled the scene shortly after the confrontation and shooting.
Urbain is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital in Buea. He shared his ordeal on Facebook on Monday, April 6, 2026, detailing the events.
"Two armed men entered my home, took cash, withdrew from mobile money accounts, and tied my hands and legs behind my back," he wrote. "I pleaded until they released my hands and legs, after which they gagged my mouth and took me to the room, ordering my wife onto the bed. That's when I decided to strike."
He further recounted, "After I hit them, I managed to open the door and ran outside, still struggling and shouting. He shot me in the chest. The bullet passed straight through and exited my back. While I undergo treatment, we thank God for my life."
