The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially debunked claims suggesting that Senator David Mark has stepped down from his role as the party's National Chairman. The party's Media Office dismissed the reports as a malicious and unfounded fabrication.
In a statement, the ADC described the rumours as a deliberate attempt by what it called "puerile, weak, and inconsiderate propagandists" to mislead the public and create internal disarray. The party leadership firmly asserted that Senator Mark continues to serve as the substantive National Chairman and has no intentions of resigning.
"The assertion that Senator David Mark has stepped down exists only in the warped imagination of those bent on spreading falsehood and creating confusion within our party," the statement declared, attributing the misinformation to individuals seeking to destabilise the ADC.
The party leadership underscored its unity and unwavering focus on its objectives of fostering democratic principles and offering competent leadership to the nation. They warned against any attempts to undermine the party's stability, suggesting these efforts are motivated by the ADC's growing influence and the evolving political landscape leading up to the 2027 general elections.
"The ADC, its leadership, and the majority of Nigerians are unbending in their collective determination to resist any plot aimed at undermining Nigeria’s multi-party democracy or imposing a one-party system," the statement added.
The party urged the Nigerian public to disregard the fabricated news and maintain their confidence in the ADC's leadership and its commitment to democratic ideals.
