Unidentified drones have been detected hovering above the military base in Washington, where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are residing, as reported by The Washington Post on Thursday.

A senior official from the administration informed the Post that there is a growing focus on monitoring potential threats, particularly as alert statuses increase in the United States amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

In the past ten days, several drones have been seen flying over Fort McNair on a single evening, although their point of origin is still not identified.

Fort McNair, which is the location of the National Defense University and several high-ranking Pentagon officials, is situated near Capitol Hill and the White House. However, it does not benefit from the same security buffer as other bases in the area, as noted by The Washington Post.

In light of these developments, a meeting was convened at the White House to address the matter and consider possible relocation for both Rubio and Hegseth. The official clarified that neither of the officials has been repositioned as of now.
