Salisu Yahaya Hotoro, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kano State on Social Media, has openly challenged Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's faction to specify who is managing significant government programs and contracts.
This confrontation arises alongside accusations of ingratitude directed at Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf concerning the former governor's past services.
In an interview with Arewa Updates, an online news platform, Hotoro raised these inquiries while responding to remarks made by Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso, the recently dismissed Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters.
Surajo had alleged that since taking office, Governor Yusuf has not granted contracts or offered any benefits to Kwankwaso.
Hotoro dismissed this assertion as untrue and misleading, asserting that evidence indicates Kwankwaso and his associates have continued to receive benefits from the Yusuf administration in essential sectors such as Hajj operations, international scholarships, and substantial contracts.
"I doubt that Jagora Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso informed Sunusi Surajo Kwankwaso that he is not receiving any benefits from this government," Hotoro remarked, encouraging inquiries about the current management of Hajj affairs at the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board.
He pointed out that approximately 30 Hajj slots have been allocated to Kwankwaso annually since Governor Yusuf's administration began, urging scrutiny over the allocation and usage of these slots.
Additionally, Hotoro inquired about the foreign scholarship program managed by the Ministry of Higher Education, questioning who is responsible for selecting and funding students studying abroad and the actual number of students benefiting from the authorized 1,001 slots.
Hotoro explained that while the state government provides funding, it is the contractor who arranges the schools and is responsible for visa processing, travel, and student support overseas.
He further questioned contracts related to the Ministry of Water Resources, specifically regarding diesel supply, procurement of heavy machinery worth billions of naira that remain uninstalled, and the acquisition of chemicals required for water treatment.
"Who is in charge of the diesel supply contracts? Who acquired the machinery and engaged the contractors handling these projects?" he demanded.
Hotoro firmly stated that claims implying Kwankwaso has not reaped benefits from the Yusuf administration are attempts to mislead the public and garner sympathy.
He cautioned that if those making these allegations do not address the posed inquiries, they should refrain from further comments, emphasizing that the government possesses substantial evidence to effectively counter what he labeled as misinformation.
"There are numerous matters we would rather keep confidential, but if they persist with their falsehoods, we will be compelled to disclose comprehensive details and evidence to inform the public about what has truly transpired," he concluded.
