Akpabio Commends Tinubu for Fuel Subsidy Removal, Wishes He Were Governor Now

He remarked on how he wishes he could have served as governor under the current administration.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for abolishing the fuel subsidy.

Akpabio mentioned that due to the removal of the subsidy, many current governors now receive allocations four times greater than what he received during his tenure as governor of Akwa-Ibom State.

He stated, “People claim we are rubber-stamp senators; however, we dedicate ourselves to thoroughly examining everything presented to us.

“We take great care in scrutinizing all proposals to ensure they align with the best interests of Nigerians, despite any initial public criticism.

“We are grateful for the tax reforms. Thank you for abolishing the fuel subsidy. How I wish I were a governor under your leadership. Many of them say they receive four times what we used to get.”
