Political analyst Kamilu Fagge has indicated that the enduring political relevance of Rabiu Kwankwaso is largely attributed to the unwavering commitment of his core supporters.
During an interview on ARISE News, Fagge characterized Kwankwaso's followers as "die-hard," observing that their steadfast support has persisted even during periods when Kwankwaso was not in government.
He elaborated that Kwankwaso's capacity to preserve his support base over an extended period has facilitated his political resurgence and ongoing influence within Nigeria's political arena.
Fagge suggested that the ideological nature of his supporters' loyalty provides him with the assurance needed to pursue political aspirations and manage evolving political alliances.
However, he pointed out that the concentration of this support primarily within Kano and adjacent states limits its influence on a national scale.
According to Fagge, this regional focus could present an obstacle for Kwankwaso in forming a wide-ranging national coalition that could achieve electoral success.
He proposed that extending his influence beyond his traditional strongholds would likely necessitate forming strategic partnerships with other prominent political figures.
Despite increased activity within opposition groups, Fagge stressed that solidarity among key political actors would be essential for any substantial progress in the upcoming 2027 elections.
He concluded that Kwankwaso's political future hinges not only on the strength of his loyal following but also on his ability to expand his appeal across the entire nation.
