Cameroonian international goalkeeper, Andre Onana, is reportedly set on re- establishing himself as Manchester United's first-choice keeper in the upcoming season.
The 29-year-old is presently on loan with Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig and is expected to return for pre-season training at Manchester United afterwards.
As reported by the Guardian, Onana holds the belief that he will be given an opportunity to win back his place following the arrival of former Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim, who brought in Senne Lammens last summer as his successor.
Lammens, a promising 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper, has made an immediate impact since joining Manchester United, solidifying his position as the number one option with some stellar performances.
Most recently, Lammens showcased his capabilities during a match against Everton, where he kept a clean sheet to ensure a hard-fought 1-0 victory, underscoring why he was signed from Royal Antwerp for £18 million last summer.
However, Onana is contending with challenges as his stint at Trabzonspor has not been favorable, and it appears that his loan agreement will not be extended. He may either depart on another loan or be sold permanently.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper originally transferred to Manchester United from Inter Milan in July 2023, signing a five-year contract valued at an initial £44.1 million, although his initial performances were far from satisfactory.
