Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are continuing their legal confrontation concerning their French property, Château Miraval. Recent court filings indicate a disagreement regarding the timing of the trial for this ongoing dispute.
Pitt is reportedly advocating for an earlier court date, asserting that current delays negatively affect his ability to enjoy the estate. Court documents suggest he claims to have been denied "the quiet enjoyment of his home in France" and is urging the court to schedule the trial before the previously set 2027 date.
The legal entanglement originates from a lawsuit Pitt initiated in 2022. He accused Jolie of selling her stake in Château Miraval to an outside entity without his consent. Pitt alleged that the new shareholder has adopted an adversarial stance, disrupting the wine business he dedicated years to building.
Conversely, Jolie contends she had the right to divest her share without Pitt's consent and is resisting attempts to accelerate the legal process. In her most recent court submission, she argued that there is no valid reason to hasten the proceedings and proposed a trial commencement in September 2027.
Furthermore, she challenged Pitt's assertions of disruption, stating that he has not provided any evidence demonstrating that the ongoing litigation has impacted his use or enjoyment of the estate.
In response to another point raised by Pitt, Jolie dismissed his concerns about a later trial date potentially clashing with Jewish High Holidays. She pointed out that he had not identified any legal representative who would face such a conflict, despite being represented by multiple lawyers.
Pitt also raised concerns about potential issues with witness availability due to delays, mentioning that some witnesses are aging and one potential witness has already passed away. A judicial decision on the scheduling dispute has not yet been made, leaving the timeline for this high-profile legal matter undetermined.
