Singer Peter Okoye has voiced his reaction to the criticism he faced after announcing that he would no longer celebrate his birthday on November 18th, a date he shares with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
Peter revealed his decision to mark November 30th as his new birthday in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, April 20th. This shift surprised many social media users who suggested he was extending the ongoing rift between him and his twin brother, Paul, following the dissolution of their music group, P-Square.
Addressing the negative feedback on his X handle this morning, Peter Okoye wrote:
"Are you vexed as if I've cancelled Christmas?
It's my birthday date I moved, not yours, so why does it bother you?
Even the date for Jesus Christ's birthday on December 25th is still debated.
Why cry more than the bereaved? It's funny how the shift in my birthday date is causing more distress than Nigeria's actual problems.
Just for clarification: Insults do not diminish success.
If you've made it, you've made it! Understand that and find peace."
