The Director General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has highlighted divine trust, documented achievements, and rigorous voter outreach as the three vital pillars guaranteeing electoral success for President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking to media correspondents in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, during the Umrah pilgrimage, Yari stressed that these factors would successfully propel the administration's political agenda. His comments follow remarks made by President Tinubu during the lesser pilgrimage, where the Nigerian leader expressed total reliance on divine providence regarding his political future.
What are the specific pillars highlighted by the campaign leadership?
According to Yari, who previously governed Zamfara State, the first crucial element is the President's unwavering faith in God. The second factor involves the administration's concrete record of performance in office, while the third centers on the campaign machinery's proven ability to connect effectively with the electorate.
Elaborating on the President's stance in Saudi Arabia, Yari commended the Nigerian leader for acknowledging divine sovereignty. During his media interaction on Friday, President Tinubu noted that supreme authority rests solely with the Almighty in determining leadership outcomes.
"That is what makes a leader, because when you ask him, he first prayed for the country, prayed for every Nigerian and also he says this election is an election that God has selected the person who will be a leader, and only Him that can put a leader or otherwise," Yari stated.
How does the campaign plan to match faith with action?
While acknowledging spiritual dependence, the campaign director general emphasized that divine guidance must be complemented by practical grassroots mobilization. He noted that the campaign organization is fully prepared to traverse the country to showcase government milestones and persuade citizens.
"So in total, I depend on Allah to do it for him as he did it for him in 2023. By that, Allah says we should work, that all the procedures we are undertaking, to campaign, to talk to people, to convince them, to show them what we have done, what we have achieved and that by His grace, people will be convinced to elect us," Yari added.
