The All Progressives Congress (APC) has re-elected Nentawe Yilwatda for another term as its national chairman.
The affirmation of Yilwatda's leadership occurred during the party's 8th national convention in Abuja on Friday, where all members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were returned through consensus and by an affirmative voice vote.
A report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) states that the newly elected NWC members were promptly sworn in to manage the party's operations over the forthcoming four years.
The new NWC features several key figures, including Ali Dalori as Deputy National Chairman (North), Emma Eneukwu as Deputy National Chairman (South), Surajudeen Basiru as National Secretary, Alhaji Bashir Gumel as National Financial Secretary, and Murtala Kankia as National Legal Adviser, among others.
Nentawe Yilwatda, who initially took office in 2025 after Abdullahi Ganduje's resignation, highlighted in his acceptance speech that the NWC is prepared to lead with the aim of rebuilding Nigeria under the guidance of President Bola Tinubu.
In his address, Yilwatda stated, "Our mission is clear. Together, we will build a Pan-African and Pan-Nigerian party that is stronger, more transparent, inclusive, disciplined, and united than ever."
He expressed commitment to enhancing internal democracy within the party, ensuring every member's voice is acknowledged, and reinforcing party structures to instill trust.
Yilwatda emphasized the need for greater engagement across communities to spread a message of renewed hope and pledged to empower the youth, whom he regards as essential to the present and future of Nigeria.
He expressed gratitude towards President Tinubu for his ongoing support towards the party and the country's leadership, asserting that the future of the APC aligns with the broader aspirations for Nigeria, invigorated by the administration's renewed hope agenda.
He noted that the current economic reforms are stabilizing national finances and stimulating the economy, focusing on investment in infrastructure like roads and energy, as well as social initiatives for the vulnerable populations.
Yilwatda remarked, "I fully embrace this responsibility with recognition of historical context and the critical expectations of our citizens."
