Taiwo Awoniyi scored as Nottingham Forest achieved a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League match on Sunday, alleviating concerns about relegation.
The team showcased a decisive performance in London, with Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White also contributing to the scoreline before Awoniyi added the final goal.
Jesus opened the scoring with a header just before half-time, and Gibbs-White extended the lead in the 62nd minute after a significant mistake from Tottenham's goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario.
Awoniyi, who was introduced as a substitute in the 71st minute, sealed the victory late in the match with a composed finish from a cross delivered by Nico Williams.
This goal marked Awoniyi’s second of a season plagued by injuries and delivered Nottingham Forest's first win under manager Vítor Pereira, who took over the position in February.
Following this victory, Nottingham Forest climbed to 16th place in the league standings, gaining a more comfortable distance from the relegation zone while Tottenham fell to 17th, lingering just one point above the relegation spots with seven matches left in the season.
