Bayelsa Doctor Succumbs to Complications After Welcoming Triplets

A medical doctor, Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, has passed away in Bayelsa State following complications that arose shortly after she successfully delivered triplets. The obstetrician-gynecologist died at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa after an intense effort by medical professionals to save her life.

A medical professional, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, has died in Bayelsa State after giving birth to a set of triplets. The obstetrician-gynecologist welcomed her babies at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) located in Okolobiri, Yenagoa.

According to reports, Dr. Ogbachi experienced complications shortly after the delivery. She was subsequently rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa for further medical attention. A team of doctors and specialists reportedly worked tirelessly to stabilize her condition.

Tragically, she passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Her brother, Meshack Sintei, shared the news on Facebook, detailing the events that transpired.

"After she successfully gave birth to Triplet at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH) in Okolobiri, Yenagoa LGA Bayelsa State, complications arose that eventually forced us to rush her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in FMC Yenagoa," he wrote. "It was at the ICU in FMC that she eventually gave up the ghost. My beloved sister, Dr. Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi died at exactly 2:45am on April 14th 2026."

He described the distressing experience of witnessing her struggle and the medical team's efforts. "We watched her struggling to live, we watched her gasping for breath, we watched at how the team of doctors and other experts and specialists in FMC kept trying their best to revive her, we watched her fighting hard to survive, and then all of a sudden; the Sp02 machine (pulse oximeter) in the ICU began reading/measuring downwards from 70 to 50 and then to 0."

He added, "It was at this point tears started rolling down my eyes and I knew the inevitable has come. It was a painful experience and more painful for her."

Sintei remembered his sister as a fighter. "I want her family and friends to know that she was a fighter to the end. Indeed a generation has been lost and the Sintei Family mourns. It is well. We thank our families, friends, loved ones and well wishers who have reached out and continued to reach out to us."
