Benue State University Student Discovered Dead in Makurdi Community

Lanem Moses Chianenter, a final-year student from the Animal Production department at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), was discovered dead near the Utambe area in Ujam village, close to the university.

The tragic event occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, leading to shock and grief within both the university and local community.

Community sources reported that the body was found in the vicinity of a student-dense settlement, which triggered immediate alerts to security personnel.

Authorities from the police have launched an investigation to ascertain the details surrounding the student's passing.

At the time of his death, Chianenter was serving as the President of the National Association of Ukum Students (NAUS) for the JOSTUM chapter and held the role of Financial Secretary in the JOSTUM Students Union.
