Building Fire in Taraba Averts Injuries Among Residents

A fire incident destroyed part of a twin residential building in Jalingo, Taraba State, but thankfully, residents were unharmed. The Federal Fire Service managed to salvage property worth approximately N52 million.

Residents narrowly escaped injury during a fire outbreak that devastated a section of a twin residential structure in Jalingo, located in Taraba State.

The unfortunate event took place on Monday, March 2, 2026, in the Agada Atah area of Magami, which is part of the capital city.

According to a statement from the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), ASF Sylvanus Mikailu, a quick response from the firefighters enabled them to protect property estimated at N52 million.

"The Taraba State Command of the Federal Fire Service effectively responded to the fire incident involving a twin flat residential building, each unit containing four self-contained bedrooms at Agada Atah Magami in Jalingo. They successfully prevented widespread damage and saved property valued at about N52,000,000 following an emergency call," the official statement noted.

The firefighting team, under the leadership of ASFII Bruno Nsame, acted swiftly to control and extinguish the flames before they reached neighboring buildings.

"Thanks to their professionalism, skillful deployment of firefighting tools, and overall effort, the crew was able to manage the situation and avoid further risk. Fortunately, there were no casualties," the statement added.

ACF Yakubu Samson Dungus, State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, advised residents of Taraba to adhere to fire safety protocols and to immediately contact the fire service during any fire emergency for swift response.
