The Senate of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has officially expelled 171 students due to the submission of falsified qualifications for admission into the institution.
This decision was reached during the 433rd Senate meeting, which took place on March 4, 2026, after reviewing a report presented by the Senate Committee on Entry Qualification Irregularities.
The committee's role was to examine cases involving discrepancies in the admission credentials of students.
The investigation uncovered that the students in question had provided fraudulent documents to secure their placements at the university.
Such actions are in direct violation of Section 20.7, Category A (vii) of the University’s General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR), which mandates expulsion for such misconduct.
Additionally, the Senate sanctioned the expulsion of Yusuf Muhammad Sani (ENG/18/CIV/00065) from the Civil Engineering Department for physically assaulting exam invigilators during an examination.
