American internet personality Celina Powell has taken legal steps against YouTuber Deshae Frost after he reportedly claimed she sexually assaulted him and infected him with herpes during a livestream.
The cease and desist letter, released by Powell’s lawyer, Rebecca R. Bordoli, was dispatched on Thursday, February 26. It demands Frost to immediately cease making what is characterized as "defamatory, defamatory per se, harmful, and false statements."
In the letter, it is mentioned that on January 26, during a livestream, Frost purportedly accused Powell of sexual assault and of transmitting herpes to him. Powell's legal team contends that these allegations lack any factual basis and are without merit.
Powell’s attorney argues that, according to Florida law, the accusations can be classified as defamation per se, as falsely claiming that someone has committed a crime or has a contagious disease is considered libel, for which damages are presumed.
Representatives of Powell assert that the allegations have already begun to harm her professional life, suggesting that the claims are spreading quickly online and tarnishing her reputation.
The cease and desist letter requests that Frost retract his statements publicly and provide a formal apology on all platforms where the accusations were made, with a deadline of ten days. It warns that non-compliance may lead to legal action, serving also as a formal indication of Powell’s intention to initiate civil proceedings for libel and defamation.
This dispute originated from an interaction during a livestream that quickly gained popularity online. As of now, Frost has not issued a public response concerning the cease and desist notice.
