Chude Jideonwo, the creator behind the popular talk show #WithChude and Chair of the Fourthmainland Creator Fund, hosted the launch of his memoir, 'How Depression Saved My Life', on January 29, 2026. This significant event took place at Alliance Française in Ikoyi, Lagos, marking the kickoff of an eight- city global tour and attracting an empowered audience of cultural leaders, creative minds, and public intellectuals, including figures such as Funke Akindele, Toyosi Etim-Effiong, Denrele Edun, Olumide Akpata, MI Abaga, Shaffy Bello, Pat Utomi, and Jimi Agbaje.
In a unique adaptation of the physical launch, Jideonwo’s book was also introduced through a virtual global launch on January 24, which allowed enthusiasts from various continents to engage in the event. This effort emphasized the project's commitment to making literature accessible and fostering a communal experience that transcends geographical boundaries.
The event, hosted by Simi Drey and Riyah Abdul, was characterized by sincere discussions about mental health, emotional authenticity, faith, aspirations, and the repercussions of public life. One of the remarkable highlights was a profound dialogue between MI Abaga and Jideonwo, where they delved into Jideonwo's personal experiences related to depression and public scrutiny, affording attendees unique insights into vulnerability and self-awareness regarding success and fulfillment.
Following the discussions, attendees had the opportunity to purchase copies of the memoir, praised as one of Amazon's best-sellers, 'How Depression Saved My Life'. Jideonwo personally signed books and connected with readers in intimate exchanges. The Lagos launch not only served as a literary event but also set off a broader movement of heartfelt conversations about mental well-being and personal growth, encouraging engagements both online and offline. The ongoing tour will touch cities such as Abuja, Port Harcourt, Cape Town, Accra, London, Manchester, Berlin, New York, and Toronto, presenting the memoir not merely as a story but as an invitation to confront difficult emotions openly and pursue happiness purposefully.
