Comedian Koffi has called for the swift arrest of influencer King Mitchy after she went live on social media, pretending to attempt suicide by ingesting toxic substances on two separate occasions.
The incident followed a public dispute between King Mitchy and social commentator Very Dark Man regarding her non-operational NGO and unfinished projects. During her livestreams, she suggested that she was attempting to take her life, claiming later in a press statement that she had been hospitalised in Abuja due to these actions. However, the hospital issued a denial, stating they had no record of her being admitted.
In response to her troubling behaviour, Koffi has been vocal in condemning the influencer's actions, asserting that her arrest is necessary.
He stated, "This young lady, who has been involved in issues with Very Dark Man, should be arrested immediately. I am not concerned about their personal disputes. Recently, I warned young people to be cautious in selecting their influencers. What she did in front of the camera is establishing a dangerous precedent that we cannot ignore.
"Hypo sachets are widely available and her behaviour is sending a harmful message to many youth about how to cope. It is crucial to curtail this trend swiftly and set a precedent that such actions will not be tolerated. Many are unaware that attempting suicide is a criminal act. Now is an opportune moment to hold someone accountable, and she is the right candidate due to the severity of her actions."
It has been reported that she staged her fake suicide attempts in Abuja. The police command in the Federal Capital Territory has yet to issue a statement regarding this incident. Attempts to reach out to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, for comments were unsuccessful.
