A Court of Appeal located in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, has validated the election of Hon. Misa Musa as the legitimate member of the state assembly representing the Ganye constituency following the recent rerun election.
The court rejected the earlier appeal lodged by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Hon. Buba Mohammed Joda, thereby upholding the position of Misa Musa from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It is worth noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) organized a by-election for the constituency due to the passing of its former member, Hon. Abdulmalik Jauro Misa, who died on May 24, 2024.
The court confirmed the decision made by the Election Petition Tribunal in Yola, which had previously dismissed the petition brought by Hon. Buba Joda of the PDP against Misa Musa.
Judge Patricia Ajuma Mahmoud stated in her ruling that the appeal was unmeritorious and awarded N3 million to the first and second respondents, against the appellants.
This court decision has concluded the ongoing legal contest over the prestigious assembly seat.
In a related development, the new national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba Ahmed, announced that the party aims to attract only principled and God-fearing individuals who are dedicated to resolving Nigeria's pressing issues.
Baba Ahmed expressed these thoughts while sharing his election news on social media, underscoring the challenging scenario in Nigeria, particularly in the North. He criticized existing leaders from the major parties for prioritizing personal agendas over the welfare of ordinary citizens.
He reinforced his belief that Nigeria could prosper once leaders reject oppression and include honorable citizens who respect justice and advocate for the less fortunate in positions of power. "The PRP is sincere. If we were after power or wealth, we would have aligned with the APC, ADC, or PDP a long time ago. However, we have remained resolute. Place your confidence in us. God understands our motives, and with His guidance, we will revitalize Nigeria," he stated.
