Suspected members of a cult group have reportedly beheaded a 30-year-old individual in Yenigwe, located within the Igbogene community of Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The tragic event transpired on Monday, February 16, 2026.
Local sources informed reporters that an ongoing feud between two rival cult factions has been escalating in the area.
"The victim was reportedly taken to Yenegue, a region dominated by the Bobos group. He was subsequently restrained and left along the road where he was beheaded," one source recounted.
The lifeless body was discovered naked, with hands bound and the head missing.
Furthermore, it was noted that the assailants had also mutilated him by severing his testicles and penis, which were taken away.
Authorities from the State Police Command have identified the deceased as Ebi Doudou, also known as "Npotor (Nois)," hailing from the Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
The police have acknowledged that the deceased belonged to a rival cult group called the Greenlanders, and he was attacked by suspected members of the Bobos cult.
In response to the incident, State Police Commissioner CP Daniel Iyamah Edobor has ordered an immediate search for those responsible for the murder.
The Police Commissioner has activated Operation Puff Adder, led by CSP Chris Nwaogbo, to conduct a swift investigation into this incident and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Family members of the deceased have urged the investigative team, Operation Puff Adder, to promptly assist in ensuring that the culprits from the Amassoma community are apprehended.
They have also asked the department to overlook recent incidents and unfounded allegations against the police force and the State Police Command.
According to police reports, one of the suspected assailants is already wanted by Operation Puff Adder due to past offenses, including the discovery of two pump-action guns found in his residence during a raid last year.
This individual is reported to have incited another disenchanted zonal cult leader from the Bobos group to disregard peace agreements and target any rival groups present within his territory.
The source disclosed that Ebi Doudou became a victim during an attack while visiting Etegwe, where he was seized by members of the Bobos group and met a gruesome death.
