Nigerian musician Davido has announced his intention to discontinue the custody battle for his first child, Imade.
On February 13, Davido and Imade's mother, Sophia Momodu, were present in court for a hearing related to a lawsuit he initiated seeking joint custody of their daughter.
Reports indicate that the court proceedings were proceeding smoothly until Sophia's attorney questioned Davido on how he could ensure Imade's safety, referencing his inability to protect his late son, Ifeanyi, who tragically passed away in October 2022.
This remark incensed Davido, prompting him to respond strongly against the lawyer in the courtroom. The court session was briefly adjourned, and upon its return, the judge instructed Davido to apologize both to the court and to the attorney. However, Davido reportedly declined, stating he would not apologize for the lawyer's use of his deceased son against him.
In a statement shared on his X account later that evening, Davido emphasized that there were no winners in this circumstance, expressing that the true loss was for Imade. He confirmed his withdrawal from the case, assuring that Imade would know he fought for her well-being.
