Delegation Led by Uzodimma, Buni, and Barau Visits Katsina State to Offer Condolences on Bagiwa's Passing

The Governor of Katsina State and Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Dikko Umaru Radda, welcomed a presidential delegation headed by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin. The delegation also included the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, along with Mai Mala Buni, the Governor of Yobe State. They visited Katsina State to convey condolences regarding the demise of Abubakar Lawal Bagiwa, known as Sarkin Fulanin Hamcheta, who served as an Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs.

Upon their arrival at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, the delegation was received by Governor Radda, along with Hon Nasir Yahaya Daura, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, as well as the State Chairman of the APC, Sani Abdullahi (Sani JB), and other prominent government and party officials.

Accompanying the delegation were the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, James Faleke, and Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters. During the visit to the residence of the late Sarkin Fulanin Hamcheta, Governor Radda highlighted that the delegation was sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The purpose of their visit was to express the President's condolences to the bereaved family and the citizens of Katsina State for the loss of an esteemed individual from the state.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Senator Jibrin emphasized that the late Abubakar Lawal Bagiwa was celebrated for his dedicated service to the nation. He pointed out that President Tinubu is always attentive to the contributions of Nigerians who demonstrate integrity, dedication, and excellence in their service to the country. Senator Jibrin further mentioned that it was this recognition that prompted the President to dispatch a senior delegation to personally convey his sympathy and support. He prayed that the Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the late ACG Bagiwa, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and offers comfort to his family, relatives, and all those who mourn his passing.
