Descasio recently organized an exclusive executive brunch, gathering accomplished women leaders from its client network. The event, held to commemorate International Women's Day, focused on fostering dialogue around leadership, partnership, and mutual growth.

The gathering was inspired by the 2026 International Women's Day theme, 'Give to Gain,' providing a platform for influential women in various enterprises to share insights on the significance of mentorship, teamwork, and investing in human capital for enduring success.

The event took place in Lagos and saw the attendance of senior figures from prominent organizations such as Honeywell Group Limited, Finchglow Travels, NGCOM, and Eroton Exploration & Production Company.

Mr. Dele Nedd, CEO of Descasio, personally welcomed each attendee, expressing his gratitude for their presence. He then stepped aside to allow the women leaders to engage in an open and peer-led discussion.

This approach exemplified Descasio's commitment to a leadership culture that not only acknowledges but actively champions and empowers women. It also reinforced the company's conviction that substantial leadership advancement relies on collaborative efforts and supportive alliances within organizations.

Moving away from a conventional panel format, the brunch was designed as an intimate and reflective forum for professionals who navigate leadership roles across demanding industries. Participants exchanged perspectives informed by their extensive experience, responsibilities, and the practicalities of managing teams and corporate entities.

A significant point of discussion was the crucial role of execution and accountability in leadership. The consensus was that for many businesses, a robust strategy is insufficient without consistent delivery, which is the foundation for building credibility and trust.

Josephine Adebola, Data Compliance & Process Automation Manager at Finchglow Travels, highlighted the necessity of dependability in leadership and the discipline required to transform strategic visions into tangible outcomes.

She stated, “Get it done on time and in full.”

The conversation also delved into the importance of inquisitiveness and continuous learning in developing effective leaders. In sectors experiencing rapid change, the capacity to ask questions, embrace diverse viewpoints, and commit to ongoing learning is often what empowers leaders to evolve alongside their organizations.

Tomi Otudeko, Chief Operating Officer at Honeywell Group Limited, shared how her innate curiosity has influenced her leadership trajectory.

She remarked, “Asking questions and continuously learning have always stood me in good stead as a leader.”

Otudeko also emphasized the value of leading with empathy, understanding the individuals behind professional roles within organizations.

She added, “Everyone has multiple dimensions to who they are. Leadership has taught me to see people in their totality. That awareness doesn’t make a leader weak; it makes them more effective.”

Another key theme that emerged was the significance of authenticity in leadership. In contexts where leaders might face pressure to adhere to traditional expectations, maintaining one's genuine identity while pursuing growth is paramount.

For Helen James-Eziashi, General Manager at NGCOM, authenticity and a curious mindset remain core guiding principles.

She advised, “Be yourself, keep learning, and stay curious.”

The discussion further underscored the role of self-awareness in sustaining one's leadership journey, particularly in environments characterized by complexity and significant responsibility. Recognizing personal values, drivers, and support networks often provides the stability needed to navigate uncertainty with assurance.

Ifeanyi Onyejekwe, IT Manager at Eroton, stressed the importance of understanding what anchors a leader.

He noted, “Know who you are and understand what supports and sustains your leadership journey.”

Descasio indicated that the event aligns with its broader commitment to cultivating strong partnerships and promoting insightful leadership discussions within its enterprise customer base.

Umama David-Ogebe, HR Manager at Descasio, commented, “For us, this was about more than marking International Women’s Day. It was about creating a space where leaders could learn from one another and reflect on the kind of leadership that builds strong organizations. The most meaningful partnerships grow from conversations like these.”

To amplify the insights shared, Descasio has published “The Give to Gain Leadership Report: Insights from Women Leading Enterprise Organizations.” This report compiles key reflections and leadership lessons from the event.

The report details themes including:

* The critical role of curiosity and continuous learning in effective leadership.

* Fostering stronger teams through empathy and a commitment to accountability.

* The importance of authenticity and self-awareness in navigating leadership paths.

* How investing in people cultivates more robust partnerships and resilient organizations.
