Novak Djokovic is confident that Carlos Alcaraz, currently ranked as world number one, has the potential to keep his winning streak alive throughout 2026. Djokovic, who experienced a remarkable run of 41 consecutive victories in 2011, recognizes the potential in Alcaraz's performance.

Recently, Alcaraz enhanced his flawless record for 2026 to 13 wins without a loss, achieving a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory against Grigor Dimitrov at the Indian Wells ATP Masters on Saturday.

Ahead of the tournament, Alcaraz had mentioned that securing a dozen consecutive victories, including clinching titles at the Australian Open and the ATP Qatar Open, has given him a deeper appreciation for Djokovic's impressive streak of 41 matches.

Djokovic pointed out that there is no reason why the 22-year-old Spaniard cannot continue amassing victories.

After his own second-round triumph over Kamil Majchrzak, Djokovic stated, "He can do it. He possesses all the qualities needed to excel, such as the ability to adjust to various surfaces, combined with the fitness and recovery level he has developed and polished over the years."

He added, "Maintaining his physical health is crucial. If he stays injury- free, his talent is so significant that he can emerge victorious in any tournament he enters."

Reflecting on his own streak from 2011, Djokovic recalled the increasing sense of confidence that consistently accompanied his success, as well as the desire for greater achievements.

"It’s demanding," he acknowledged. "However, when you experience such success and ride that wave, you find it hard to let go."
