Easter: Jonathan, Minister, Governors Advocate for Selflessness and Unity Among Nigerians

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, alongside the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, and the governors of Plateau, Anambra, and Kogi states, have called upon Nigerians to embody selflessness, unity, and steadfast faith as Christians observe the Easter celebration. These leaders, in separate communications, collectively encouraged citizens to use the occasion as a moment for introspection on the core values of sacrifice, unity, and love, emphasizing their importance in the collective pursuit of national progress.

In his Easter message addressed to Christians worldwide, Mr. Jonathan exhorted leaders to draw inspiration from the exemplary life of Jesus Christ, urging them to rise above personal interests. He highlighted that effective leadership inherently involves service, sacrifice, and humility, asserting that these virtues are fundamental to fostering a peaceful and prosperous nation.

"Easter serves as a profound reminder of faith, sacrifice, and service. These are not solely Christian tenets; they are the essential elements that bind a nation together," he stated.

The former president further encouraged Nigerians to maintain their faith amidst current adversities, expressing confidence in the nation's ability to surmount its challenges.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, similarly implored Nigerians to foster unity, practice sacrifice, and contribute to national development. Mr. Dangiwa characterized Easter as a symbol of sacrifice, rejuvenation, and hope, underscoring that the principles of love, resilience, and unity are crucial for achieving nationwide prosperity.

"These values transcend religious divides and resonate with our shared aspiration to build a unified, peaceful, and prosperous country," he remarked.

He further noted that the Easter period offers an opportunity to reinforce a commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development, particularly in expanding access to adequate housing.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, in his Easter message, requested prayers for peace within the state and across Nigeria. He urged citizens to contemplate the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ and to uphold virtues of unity, faith, and shared responsibility.

Mr. Mutfwang also extended his sympathies to those affected by recent incidents in Plateau State and called for continued prayers for healing, peace, and advancement.

Similarly, Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State encouraged citizens to reflect on the Easter themes of sacrifice, love, and unity. Mr. Ododo urged Nigerians to prioritize the collective welfare over individual gain and reiterated his administration's dedication to ensuring security and fostering development.

He also appealed to residents to extend support to the less privileged and actively promote harmonious coexistence within their communities.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, in his message, urged Christians to embrace introspection, unity, and selfless service. Mr. Soludo described Easter as a representation of hope, renewal, and triumph over adversity, imploring citizens to recommit to the values of love, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

He emphasized that true leadership involves prioritizing others and choosing the path of peace, even when faced with significant challenges.
