Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has urged Nigerians to draw inspiration from the enduring message of hope, sacrifice, and the overcoming of challenges that characterises the Easter season. He also implored citizens to pray for peace, foster interfaith harmony, and engage in collective efforts towards national renewal and progress.
In his Easter message for 2026, Governor Yahaya highlighted that Easter serves as a profound reminder of the victory of good over evil and the triumph of hope over despair, mirroring the narrative of Jesus Christ. He extended congratulations to the Christian community for completing their Lenten observances and celebrating Easter, encouraging them to embody virtues such as compassion, selflessness, and service to others.
"Easter embodies love, sacrifice, and the ultimate victory of good over evil. I heartily congratulate our Christian brethren on the successful completion of the Lenten fast and the celebration of this spiritually significant occasion," the Governor stated.
The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) expressed confidence that the spiritual blessings and lessons derived from this period will invigorate faith and reinforce the nation's collective determination to build a more peaceful, advanced, and prosperous country.
Governor Yahaya remarked that the Easter message of resurrection and hope provides assurance that Nigeria's current difficulties can be overcome through unity, faith, and shared accountability.
He further noted that as political activities intensify in anticipation of the 2027 general elections, it is crucial for Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to unity, mutual respect, tolerance, and strict adherence to democratic principles. This, he believes, is essential for safeguarding the nation's democracy and enhancing national cohesion.
In a related message, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris praised the harmonious coexistence among the diverse ethnic and religious groups within his state, viewing it as evidence of the state's dedication to unity and development.
Governor Idris expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their support and valuable input to his administration, urging Christians to observe Easter with adherence to its religious services. He reiterated his administration's commitment to an inclusive governance policy, ensuring that all segments of society benefit from empowerment initiatives, skill development, and educational opportunities. The governor also pledged equitable resource distribution and sought continued public support for the development of Kebbi State.
