Ebonyi 2027 Governorship Aspirant Odii Decries Reprisal Attacks, Settles Medical Bills

Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ebonyi State for the 2027 elections, has strongly denounced the recent retaliatory killings between individuals from Ebonyi and Anambra states. He pledged financial support for the victims' medical expenses and announced plans to distribute food supplies to impacted families.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard-bearer for the 2027 governorship election in Ebonyi State, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has strongly condemned the recent wave of retaliatory killings affecting communities in Ebonyi and Anambra State. In response to the crisis, the politician has promised to offset the hospital bills of injured victims and deliver food supplies to vulnerable households.

Who is Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii and what prompted his intervention?

Popularly known as Anyichuks, the prominent politician issued a stern appeal to locals, especially youths and traditional leaders in both territories, to halt counter-attacks and permit constituted authorities to handle the situation. His reaction follows the tragic death of Miss Mmesoma and subsequent reports indicating that two men from Ebonyi had been slain in alleged acts of vengeance. Odii maintained that targeting blameless citizens under the banner of retaliation remains completely indefensible.

Through a press release issued by his media aide, Emma Igwe, the businessman emphasized that no collective group ought to bear the consequences for an isolated crime committed by a single person.

“There can never be any justification for taking innocent human lives under the guise of revenge. No community should be made to suffer for the alleged offence of an individual,” Odii stated.

What measures are being demanded from authorities?

Stressing that Ebonyi and Anambra share deep cultural, economic, and familial bonds, the entrepreneur cautioned against allowing isolated criminal acts to fracture peaceful coexistence. He called upon the Anambra State Government, headed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to deploy immediate security and administrative interventions to safeguard residents and apprehend the culprits.

Furthermore, he directed security formations to enhance patrols and secure lives regardless of tribal or state affiliations. To cushion the impact of the unrest, Odii committed to settling medical expenditures for hospitalized survivors and promised distributions of rice and other palliative items to affected populations.

How is the intervention being received across communities?

According to the aspirant, the humanitarian gesture stems from basic empathy rather than partisan or geographic motives. He urged elders, clerics, youth groups, and opinion molders to champion reconciliation and restore public trust. Residents from both states residing outside their home regions were likewise advised to maintain law and order.

Odii also cautioned digital content creators and media practitioners against spreading unverified information capable of heightening tensions.

“Any political ambition, ethnic sentiment or personal grievance is not worth the blood of an innocent Nigerian. Let the law take its course. Let the innocent be protected. Let the wounded receive treatment. Let the hungry be supported. Let peace return to our communities,” he remarked, reiterating that both states remain tied as brothers rather than adversaries.
