Experts are slated to gather and discuss strategies for enhancing national security through engineering and planning at the upcoming 12th Waheed Kadiri Lecture Series.
The lecture, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Ogun State Chapter, will centre on the theme: "Designing safer Nigeria: Engineering, planning and the fight against insecurity."
Professor Jeremiah Ojediran, Vice Chancellor of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, and a respected Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers, will serve as the guest speaker. He will guide the discussions on the chosen topic.
According to a statement from the organising committee, chaired by Tpl Oladunjoye Arowosegbe, the selection of this theme reflects the institute's commitment to contributing to the nation's development.
The NITP Waheed Lecture Series is an annual event established to commemorate the distinguished achievements of Waheed Kadiri, a prominent planner in Africa. Kadiri is recognised as the Principal Partner at Kadiri Associates Limited and has previously held leadership roles, including president of the Nigerian Institution of Town Planners and the Association of Town Planning Consultants of Nigeria (ATOPCON), as well as chairman of the African Planning Association. He also served two terms as Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
The lecture event, which coincides with Kadiri's birthday, typically brings together a diverse group of professionals and esteemed guests from various backgrounds, fostering an environment of professional advancement and community engagement.
