In preparation for the chairmanship elections set for February 21 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Commissioner of Police Miller G. Dantawaye held discussions with chairmanship candidates and party stakeholders on Wednesday.
In his address, he called for a peaceful electoral atmosphere, emphasizing that elections should not be treated as a "do-or-die affair."
Joined by Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), CP Dantawaye engaged a diverse group of stakeholders, which included traditional leaders, community heads, youth organizations, and representatives from motorcycle and tricycle unions in Mabushi and the Bwari Area Council.
He noted that the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration between the police and the local communities.
Dantawaye highlighted the importance of improving police service effectiveness and fostering peaceful coexistence as the elections approach.
Furthermore, he urged community stakeholders to encourage their youth and wards to embrace understanding and maintain peace during this critical period.
He reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to inclusive policing, underscoring that successful security initiatives rely on building trust, sharing timely information, and encouraging community engagement.
