Femi Fani-Kayode has rejected reports suggesting that his nomination for an ambassadorial role was turned down by Germany. This denial follows claims indicating that the German government dismissed his appointment on the grounds of previous statements and behavior.

As stated in the claims, German officials referred to his "erratic behaviour" and noted controversial statements, particularly those regarded as ethnically divisive, tribalistic, and indicative of religious fundamentalism in Nigeria. They described such remarks as potentially "destabilising."

In response to these reports, Fani-Kayode took to X to label the claims as false and the work of political adversaries. He stated, "Fake news everywhere. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment, and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not, I will serve my country! Keep crying!"

Earlier, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had given his approval for Fani-Kayode as an ambassador-designate, although specific details regarding his expected posting are still pending. Up to this point, there has been no official response from German authorities concerning the alleged rejection of his nomination.
