Henry Nwosu, a distinguished former Nigerian international and part of the historic squad that clinched the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations title, has died following a brief illness at the age of 61.
Nwosu passed away in the early hours of Saturday, shortly after the death of former Super Eagles coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde.
The news of his demise was shared by former Super Eagles captain Segun Odegbami, who revealed that Nwosu succumbed to his illness around 4:00 a.m. at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he had been receiving treatment.
Odegbami stated, "After five days in hospital battling for his life, the one I call ‘Youngest Millionaire’ passed on at 4:00 a.m. this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, where he had been in Intensive Care since Wednesday."
