Gbajabiamila Contributes N200 Million as Mother Unveils N2.5 Billion Fund for Nursing College

The National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Musedeeq Adeniji-Kazeem, praised Lateefat Gbajabiamila for initiating a N2.5 billion development fund aimed at enhancing the college's nursing program, alongside a substantial donation from her son.

The National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Musedeeq Adeniji-Kazeem, has called on citizens to work towards improving society by establishing enduring legacies.

Mr. Adeniji-Kazeem, a former attorney-general of Lagos State, made this statement in Lagos during a ceremony granting an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science (Business Administration) to Lateefat Gbajabiamila, the mother of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, organized by Summit University in Offa, Kwara State.

At this event, it was also reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the honoree officially launched a N2.5 billion development fund intended for the university's College of Nursing.

Mr. Adeniji-Kazeem, who also serves as the Visitor to the institution, encouraged affluent citizens to live not just for themselves, but also for the betterment of others.

He stressed the importance of living impactful lives that not only positively affect those around us but also contribute to society at large.

“We should strive to create a lasting legacy; let us aim to live for humanity,” he remarked.

Adeniji-Kazeem mentioned that the award serves as recognition of the awardee's exemplary leadership and commitment to community service.

“The recognition reflects our values. At Summit University, we believe that business leadership should be intentional, women's empowerment is vital to development, and philanthropy needs to be systematic.

“This is why we are honoring Chief Lateefat Gbajabiamila, a woman with considerable educational and professional experience, showcasing principled leadership and commitment to her community,” he said.

He commended Lateefat Gbajabiamila for spearheading the development fund, stating it would enrich nursing education for students.

He urged other well-intentioned Nigerians to follow the honoree's example and support the institution.

Rafiu Adisa, Chairman of the university’s Governing Council, extended his congratulations to Mrs. Gbajabiamila, stating that the award recognized her impactful contributions to the community and beyond.

He praised the Gbajabiamila family for their considerable contributions to Surulere, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole.

“Today, we celebrate the esteemed Gbajabiamila family for their remarkable achievements in Surulere and in other areas across Lagos State and Nigeria.

“It is indeed noteworthy that this family has produced the current Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria,” he remarked.

He also applauded Mrs. Gbajabiamila for her initiative of launching the development fund for the nursing college, asserting that it would significantly enhance the quality of nursing education in Nigeria.

Mr. Adisa urged the public to consider contributing to the fund.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Gbajabiamila expressed gratitude to the university for the honor and acknowledged her family for their unwavering support.

She urged Nigerians to invest in the College of Nursing to nurture a new generation of compassionate leaders in healthcare.

“I accept this honor with deep appreciation to Almighty Allah, along with fond memories of my beloved late husband, Alhaji Lateef Gbajabiamila (Chief Magistrate), whose guidance and prayers have molded my life.

“My heartfelt thanks go to my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for their love, patience, and support.

“My commitment to the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria continues, as it has provided me with faith and purpose in serving Islam and humanity.

“The Lateefat Gbajabiamila College of Nursing at Summit University, Offa, symbolizes my aspirations and serves as a haven where young men and women will be taught to heal, lead, and serve with compassion. I invite everyone to support this vision through their generous contributions so that this legacy endures long after I am gone,” she advocated.

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, expressed gratitude towards the university for honoring his mother and commended the attendees, including top politicians, ministers, and industry leaders, for their support.

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this day remarkable. I cherish the presence of all our esteemed attendees today.

“It is significant for so many individuals to take time out of their busy schedules to honor our mother and family. This shows the respect and love you hold for her. May God bless you and keep you safe,” he added.

The Chief of Staff noted that at 96, receiving a Doctorate Degree from Summit University is a remarkable achievement, underscoring a lifetime of accomplishments.

He proudly announced a donation of N200 million to the fund, eliciting applause from the audience.

According to NAN, other attendees also contributed to the development fund.
