A drill rapper who recently broke out of police custody appears to have ridiculed law enforcement in a new online video just days after fleeing from authorities.
Daniel Boakye, 21, who goes by the stage name DSAVV, managed to escape from the police at University Hospital Lewisham on Sunday afternoon. He was reportedly taken there for medical treatment when he allegedly fled the premises around 3 PM.
In a video that emerged on social media on Monday night, a young man believed to be Boakye can be seen rapping in front of a television that displayed a news article regarding his escape. In the footage, he seemed to boast about his getaway while criticizing both the government and the police.
“I just broke out of jail like Modie, f the government fam they’re phoneys,” he raps. “Prison break, s fam – f*** these police. On the roads, I’m a legend like Toby, but I can’t go wrong like Kobe.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were in pursuit of Boakye after he vacated the hospital, although they were unable to catch him before he exited the building.
A police spokesperson stated: “We are on the lookout for a 21-year-old man who absconded from Lewisham Hospital at approximately 15:05 hours on Sunday, February 15.
“Daniel Boakye was in police custody at the hospital for medical care when he took off. Officers chased after him but could not apprehend him before he left. We are currently reviewing this incident to fully comprehend the events that transpired. The Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.”
Boakye had reportedly been in custody just days earlier after a previous escape before absconding again on Sunday, February 15. He is described as a Black male of average height and slim build, last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket.
Court documents indicate that Boakye was sentenced to prison in July 2023 for a series of armed robberies carried out across London, during which victims were allegedly threatened and compelled to relinquish their phones and passcodes, facilitating access to their bank accounts for withdrawals. Police have stated that investigations are ongoing to track him down.
