The Nyimatli Development Association (NDA) has expressed renewed calls for the Gombe Central senatorial seat to be rotated to the Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.

During a press conference held in Gombe, the association’s Secretary, Emmanuel Usman, articulated the views of the group's executive members and local stakeholders on this issue.

Usman stated that this demand mirrors the collective desire of the Yamaltu/Deba residents, emphasizing the need for equitable political representation within the senatorial district.

The Gombe Central Senatorial District consists of two local government areas: Akko and Yamaltu/Deba.

He noted that a rotational system for the senatorial seat between the two local councils is the most just option available.

Current senator Danjuma Goje, who hails from Akko LGA, is expected to have served 16 years in the Senate by the conclusion of his current term.

"This extended tenure has fostered a feeling of disparity within the district. Fairness dictates that after 16 years in Akko, the seat should now revert to Yamaltu/Deba," he remarked.

Usman also highlighted that the citizens of Yamaltu/Deba, especially those from the Tera community, perceive themselves as underrepresented and are eager to elect the next senator.
