Ahmadu Fintiri, the Governor of Adamawa State, has stated that no individual from the northern region should contest for the presidency in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Making these remarks during a broadcast on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on March 3, Fintiri mentioned his recent shift from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He noted that while the Nigerian constitution allows any politician to run for the presidency in 2027, it would be more prudent for the southern region to complete its eight-year tenure before power returns to the north to promote national unity.
“It is still the turn of the south. A Northerner has no business at the moment to vie for the office of the president,” he asserted.
