Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has announced that the state is set to deliver a minimum of 85% of its votes to President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections slated for 2027.

Fintiri made this commitment during a visit to the APC national headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, where he was welcomed by the party's National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

The governor characterized his return to the APC as a return to his roots, dismissing any claims of defection, stating he was one of the founding members of the party in 2014.

"We do not regard this as a defection because we were instrumental in establishing the APC back in 2014. This is truly a homecoming," he declared.

Fintiri reassured the APC leadership that political structures across Adamawa have aligned with the party and are mobilizing in preparation for the forthcoming elections.

He emphasized, "Our aim is to secure 85% of the votes in Adamawa, and we will ensure that other candidates do not get more than 25% in the state.

"We are fully engaged and working tirelessly to reach this target."

Additionally, he noted that the party had recently hosted what he termed the largest stakeholders' meeting in the state, indicating an increase in support for the APC.

"We are accustomed to winning elections, and we have revived that winning spirit within the party. Everyone is included, and we will ensure that nobody is left out," the governor added.

In response, Yilwatda expressed his happiness at Fintiri's return, stating it was a reunion with a political family that he played a significant role in establishing.

"You are welcomed back home. Your place has always been here. You are returning to the house and fortress you helped to build," he remarked.

Yilwatda also asserted that the APC holds a nationwide appeal and assured Fintiri of full integration into the party's framework.

"Our doors are always open. We wholeheartedly welcome you and guarantee full integration within the party structure," he assured.

He mentioned that the party's membership register is up-to-date and ready for submission to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when required.

Moreover, Yilwatda indicated that preparations are underway to formally welcome Fintiri at the upcoming national convention of the party.

This visit highlights the APC's ongoing efforts to strengthen its political foothold in Adamawa State as activities ramp up in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
