Daniel Bwala, who serves as the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has reiterated that Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers, is the official leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. He pointed out that Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is not a part of the ruling political party.
Bwala shared this information during a recent interview with Channels Television.
The presidential aide made the remark amidst a political turmoil within the state, highlighted by the commencement of impeachment proceedings against Fubara by members of the Rivers Assembly.
"I concur with the national chairman [Nentawe Yilwatda] regarding the situation in Rivers State, where Governor Fubara is recognized as the leader of the APC. Wike cannot represent the APC as he is not a member," Bwala stated.
He further noted that while Wike might still hold sway over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, he has no power regarding the APC.
"Wike may indeed be viewed as the leader of the PDP in Rivers State because of his tenure as a former governor and the absence of the party's current governor, but in the APC, it is Governor Fubara who assumes the leadership role in the state," he further asserted.
Below is a video of Bwala discussing these points.
