Governor Lawal Reiterates Support for Security Forces in Zamfara

Zamfara State's Governor, Dauda Lawal, has honored the sacrifices made by members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Police, and other security agencies who gave their lives to restore peace within the communities throughout the state.

The governor expressed this tribute on Thursday during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, which took place at the Trade Fair Complex in Gusau.

Represented by the Zamfara State Government Secretary, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, Lawal expressed the state government’s ongoing dedication to initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare and wellbeing of the families of these fallen heroes.

"This annual ceremony highlights the bravery, sacrifice, and steadfast patriotism exhibited by our remarkable personnel who have given their lives in pursuit of our safety and security. Their sacrifices will always be remembered, and their memory will live on in the hearts of a grateful nation," he stated.

"Zamfara has recently faced significant challenges related to insecurity. In the fight against banditry, terrorism, and other criminal threats, our Armed Forces and security personnel have consistently demonstrated resilience, often at great personal peril.

"Numerous valiant sons and daughters of our state have made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of peace and stability in our neighborhoods. Today, we honor their bravery and reaffirm our unified commitment to creating a safer and more prosperous Zamfara State.

"To the families of these heroes, particularly the widows, widowers, and children left behind, we grieve with you. Your loved ones did not die in vain; they served humanity and stood guard over our shared future.

"I assure you that the Zamfara State Government will persist in supporting initiatives that focus on the welfare of our fallen heroes' families," the governor proclaimed.

He also encouraged citizens to collaborate with the Armed Forces and security agencies by providing cooperation and sharing reliable information.

Lawal further emphasized that the state administration would persist in bolstering security efforts by enhancing logistics, improving welfare measures, and implementing technology-driven intelligence strategies.
