Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has expressed unwavering faith that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will achieve justice in court regarding the legal challenges it faces across the country.

During a recent event where he commissioned the new PDP Secretariat in Oke- Ado, Ibadan, Makinde emphasized his determination to thwart any attempts by individuals he characterizes as "vagabonds" from seizing control of the party or hampering its prospects for retaining power.

He articulated this message while addressing attendees, highlighting the judiciary's role as the last refuge for ordinary citizens.

Makinde remarked that while deceit might persist for a prolonged period, ultimately, the truth will emerge victorious, affirming his complete trust in the judicial processes in Nigeria.

"I have a strong belief in the judicial system. Justice will be served, and the PDP will receive the justice it deserves," Makinde stated.

He cautioned that both he and loyal party members would oppose any efforts by discontented factions to destabilize the PDP for personal gain or to pave the way for opposing political forces in Oyo State.

Looking back on previous political associations, he acknowledged his past collaborations with some individuals now at odds with the PDP, but indicated that he has since distanced himself from them.

In a local saying, he noted, "In Yorubaland, a tranquil compound is often a sign that the vagabond within it has not matured."

Makinde elaborated that the troublesome elements within the PDP had their time from 2015 and were expelled in November 2025, insisting that they no longer exist in the party.

He shared, "I once broke bread with them, even shared my troubles; however, I have since repented."

The Governor underscored that the PDP is the legitimate platform for progressive governance in Oyo State, asserting that internal conflicts would not distract the party from its governance responsibilities.

Dayo Ogungbenro, the Chairman of the Oyo State PDP, urged members to enhance their dedication and unity ahead of the 2027 elections, highlighting that collective effort and loyalty are vital for electoral triumph.

Ogungbenro expressed his belief in a PDP victory in 2027, crediting it to the sustained support from the public and a sense of divine guidance.

At the commissioning event, Makinde also announced the Secretariat will be named after Omokunmi Mustapha, a former party chairman, in appreciation of his significant contributions.

Additionally, he officially handed the building's documentation to the PDP's National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, signifying the formal transfer of ownership of the party headquarters.

The event saw attendance from numerous notable party figures, including ex- Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, PDP Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, along with other stakeholders from Oyo State and beyond.
