Chukwuma Soludo has officially dismissed all political appointees from his administration, requiring them to hand over their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or the highest-ranking civil servants in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies. This decision was made just a day post-swearing in for his second term.

The announcement was made public through a statement from Nwabufo Nwankwo, Permanent Secretary in the Secretary to the State Government's office, which mandated the affected officials to finalize the handover process by the end of working hours on March 18, 2026. This move aims to maintain governance continuity until a new cabinet is constituted.

Furthermore, the communication extended an invitation to members of the previous first-term cabinet for a meeting with the governor scheduled for March 23 at the ANSEC Chambers in Awka.

Soludo took the oath for his second term on Tuesday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim, after winning the governorship election on November 8, 2025, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

During his inaugural address, the governor emphasized efforts in enhancing security and stimulating economic activity within the state, stating, “The crippling one-sit-at-home is behind us; our educational institutions, marketplaces, businesses, and public services are operational again. Ndi Anambra affirms that we are now the safest, or at least one of the safest states in Nigeria.”

The inauguration ceremony was graced by notable attendees, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, along with former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

This broad dismissal of appointees heralds the beginning of a new administrative chapter as the governor embarks on his second term in office.
