Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, has called on Islamic scholars to utilize the teachings from Ramadan to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, and social responsibility among the people.
The governor made this appeal on Sunday during the 2026 Annual Pre-Ramadan Meeting convened by Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) at their National Headquarters in Kaduna. The meeting was timed just ahead of the Ramadan fasting period, which is anticipated to begin before the end of February.
Represented by Dr. Mu’azu Meyare, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Governor Sani emphasized that Ramadan, a sacred month representing mercy and renewal, provides a unique opportunity to reinforce values such as charity, patriotism, and prayers for the country and its leaders. He stressed the importance of sincere supplication during this holy month as crucial for fostering national healing.
Furthermore, he urged media organizations and social media platforms to maintain the highest levels of professionalism while broadcasting Tafsir and other religious content, highlighting the need to avoid messages that could stir tensions or create divisions. Sani reiterated that serving humanity is one of the greatest acts of worship in Islam.
He also pointed out that his administration's interfaith framework has contributed to sustaining relative peace and understanding among individuals of diverse religious beliefs within the state.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to supporting religious education and dialogue and expressed his intent to continue collaborating with JNI and other faith-based groups. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Abubakar Kiyari El- Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, who led discussions on responsible preaching, the promotion of religious harmony, and the importance of maintaining peace during Ramadan and beyond. It was attended by traditional Muslim leaders, clerics, and scholars from all over the nation.
