In the early hours of Monday, Hezbollah, the Lebanese militia, announced that it had attacked an Israeli military facility located south of Haifa.
The militant group stated that its assault involved "a salvo of advanced rockets and a swarm of drones," a response motivated by the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, who died during extensive airstrikes carried out by US and Israeli forces on Tehran the previous Saturday.
The Israeli defense apparatus reported the activation of sirens across numerous northern regions of the country late at night, coinciding with the launch of projectiles from Lebanese territory.
In retaliation, Israeli forces commenced their strikes on Hezbollah positions throughout Lebanon, emphasizing their commitment to preventing any potential threats from the group that could endanger Israeli civilians. Eyewitness reports from the southern suburbs of Beirut indicated that the area was struck by at least ten aerial assaults, alarming residents across the city.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam issued a statement declaring, "We will not permit the nation to be entangled in new conflicts, and we shall adopt all necessary actions to safeguard the Lebanese populace and bring the offenders to justice."
In light of recent coordinated attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, Hezbollah reiterated its support for Tehran.
The group, backed by Iran, stands as one of the most formidable non-state military entities globally. Despite suffering significant losses in previous conflicts with Israel, it is believed to maintain substantial military strength.
